NASA news: Space agency unveils a super-quiet experimental jet that is ‘faster than sound’
NASA has unveiled an experimental supersonic aircraft that is faster than the speed of sound but is quieter than conventional fighter jets.

The NASA aircraft makes use of Quiet SuperSonic Technology or QueSST for short. The revolutionary technology allows NASA’s X-59 to quietly punch through the sound barrier. Fighter jets breaching the speed of sound at 767mph (1,234kph) create an “alarming” sonic boom. But NASA has claimed the X-59 does not make the characteristic sound.
